Oggie Weldon had been a private secretary all her professional life ending with the untimely death of her boss, the 7th Marquis of Bristol. Having always had a keen interest in handicrafts and hats, She decided to take an 18 month millinery course and changed direction in her profession, then attended four more short courses on different techniques. Oggie started her millinery business in 2000 and has gone from strength to strength in the following years. Early on she was invited to make the pantomime hats for the Colchester Mercury Theatre, which she did for several years, until she decided it was taking her away from ‘her ladies’ as private customers. Six years ago Oggie was accepted and certified as a member of The Guild of Essex Craftsmen.

Oggie is available to give demonstrations/talks on couture millinery and has been doing so to ladies clubs, etc. for several years now.

Recently Oggie has made hats for Dermot O'Leary's mother for his wedding and for Jacqui Ashley's grandmother for her marriage to Guy Ritchie, as well as her hats going to The World Cup in Dubai, the Melbourne Cup in Australia, the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe meeting in Paris, and of course all the big race and society venues in the UK, and was also invited to show ten of her hats by Gok Wan at his Essex Roadshow.
